Course A001 - Civilization 4: A Walkthrough

An overview of the PC strategy title based on a single complete game from start to finish

Pre-course requirements:

A knowledge of the Civ genre and terminology

Equipment required: 

A copy of  'Sid Meier's Civilization 4' (aka 'Civ4') published by Firaxis (not supplied)

24 hours (2 hours coursework; 22 hours practical)

Course Description:

The tutor presents a detailed overview of a single Civilization4 game, from 4000BC to his eventual victory.  The student is invited to follow the tutor and inspect his strategies and where he could have improved during the games course.  The student is then required to undertake the same game and attempt to win, bearing in mind the advantages that he/she will have from the terrain being revealed by the tutor. 

Completion of the course and matriculation:

To be awarded a 'Pass' a student must undertake the saved game and play until completion and, if defeated, having a score in excess of 4000.

To be awarded a 'Merit' a student must undertake the saved game and win, with a score not less than 6000.

To be awarded an 'Honours' a student must undertake the saved game and win, with a victory other than Space Race before 2050AD, and a score not less than 8000.
